The way you use your time is the way you live your life.
There are the changes that come with aging. They arrive gradually but can feel sudden when they enter our consciousness. There are the changes that come from our environment – like the wind and rain and flooding that our friends in the UK have been contending with – or our recent (and impending) snowstorms here in the States and Canada. And there are the changes we choose – the new habits we nurture … or the old ones that we decide to let go of.
Sudden or gradual, chosen or not, the one thing that we have absolute control over is how we respond to change. And that’s where the power of affirmations comes in.
Affirmations give us a way to shape our responses so that we are coming from a place of confidence and power, rather than taking a victim stance. Affirmations open up possibilities that we’d otherwise be blind to, and they profoundly affect our experience of life and of time.
They don’t do this magically – it takes practice and persistence to learn to use affirmations well. At first they may not feel ‘real’ to you – but the more you use them, the more you will see (and esperience) their power.
Here is a sampling of some affirmations to try on for size … as you respond to the changes that you choose or that life brings your way …
In the face of change, I keep my cool.
I take time to let the situation sink in before I react.
Change is the spice of life. It shakes things up and reawakens my zest for life. I welcome it because it makes life interesting.
I am stronger than I know. The journey of life is more profound and more fun when I allow myself to take risks.
In the face of unexpected and sudden change, I think on my feet. My wit and wisdom allow me to be successful regardless of the situation.
I give changes a chance to unfold before forming an opinion or reacting. I know I’ll learn from this, no matter what.
I embrace change by finding the positive. I focus on the good and on the lessons that I can learn from the situation. My mind is set to absorb knowledge in every way.
I am confident and steadfast in times of change. I know that I have myself, and that is everything that I need.
One day at a time, one step at a time. No matter what, I choose to learn and thrive!
Choosing to affirm your power in times of change enables you to weather whatever comes your way in life. And on the other side, you’ll find that there have been gifts along the way – gifts of wisdom and acceptance and compassion that enrich your time as you move ahead.
Here’s to accepting change … and to your time success!
