Check Your Grades on HubSpot and Increase Your Marketing Reach

Finding time to check how well your blog and/or website interfaces with the world wide web is often a very easy way to increase your marketing reach. That’s because sometimes a simple tweak of a keyword or two, or the formatting of a link … you name it … can have a very big impact on your SEO.

That’s why I ask my VA to periodically test our sites, both Finding Time (website) and The Time Finder (blog) to see how we are doing.

How do we do that?

We use the various Grader Tools that are available from HubSpot. These are free tools that review and grade your web page or blog (as well as your Twitter account, Facebook profile or business page, etc.) HubSpot also has a wealth of other resources that you may find very helpful and intriguing.

Not only do they grade you on some key components that measure the effectiveness of your efforts, but they also offer very helpful, practical input that can increase your marketing reach. Along with many of their suggestions they provide a link with more information about how to implement the change that they recommend.

Often the changes that are needed are not major by any means. for example, here’s a finding with an easy fix that should have an immediate impact on my sites:

Permanent Redirect Not Found

Search engines may think findingtime.net and www.findingtime.net are two different sites.You should set up a permanent redirect (technically called a “301 redirect”) between these sites. Once you do that, you will get full search engine credit for your work on these sites.

A quick search landed us some information re. how to install a permanent redirect, and we were able to get that recommendation in place for both sites very quickly.

You’d be surprised at how seemingly small corrections and enhancements like this can increase your marketing success and your visibility on the web.
