Evernote is a very user friendly and flexible tool that’s available on multiple-platforms and helps keep needed information at your fingertips. One of the ways that my VA and I use it is to track ideas that we want to explore at Finding Time ‘someday’ – but we haven’t decided just when.
You know, those ideas that come to you in the middle of the night or when you’re out walking. They’re excellent ideas, but you won’t be working on them in the near term because there are so many other things in the pipeline. Yes - those are the ideas I’m talking about!
I’ll sometimes share them with her when we’re touching base, and she’ll add them to our Evernote collection. It might be a thought about a blog post, an article I’d like to reference, or maybe it’s an idea for a new product. Whatever it might be, Evernote offers a simple, accessible, and easily searchable repository for all of that wonderful stuff!
And the Evernote developers have added a new feature that we just love here at The Time Finder. Evernote users now have the capacity to add reminders to Notes. So that great idea that you had about a blog post for November? You can add a reminder and send yourself an e-mail as well as an in-app notification on 11/13/13, referencing that note. Your idea doesn’t get lost in the shuffle – but re-surfaces just when you need it!
It’s very simple to set up and use Evernote Reminders. Here’s a video explaining how to use this feature:
If you’re a Remember the Milk User (as my VA is) then you’ll be very pleased to know that you can now sync your Evernote Reminders with RTM. Combining these two powerful time management tools has long been something that people have requested – and now it’s available! You can learn more here, on the RTM Blog!
Another new and helpful functionality that Evernote offers (for Chrome users) is the ability to clip emails (from Gmail) using the web clipper. This is a very easy way to save important e-mails (along with their attachments) for quick retrieval later.
Whenever you receive an important email, simply open it and click on the Web Clipper. The email, along with any attached files, will be saved to Evernote. The Web Clipper grabs only what it can see, so if you want to clip all parts of the conversation, be sure to expand the thread.
