Find Time and Reduce Stress Using 2 Two Rules!

Busy, busy, busyFinding time with realistic planning is a sure fire way to reduce your stress and increase your productivity. Here are 2 two rules (no, that’s not a typo) to help you be more realistic about your time. They also help you feel more satisfied with how you use it, starting right now!

2 Two Rules

The Times Two Rule saves you from falling into the trap of thinking you can do things more quickly than is realistic.  Using this rule in your planning, you estimate the amount of time you think a project will take and then double it!

This counters our human tendency to underestimate the time required for a task. It also helps by building in some time for unanticipated interruptions and glitches.  You can read more about the Times Two Rule in my article “Finding Time by Using the Times 2 Rule – 5 Powerful Tips to Regain Control of Your Time” at EzineArticles.com.

Utilizing the X2 Rule is an important way to ensure that your peace of mind is factored into the effectiveness equation. Never forget your assertive right to claim the time you need to get the job done.

Another Two Rule

In tandem with The Times Two Rule, I invite you to consider using the Two Column Method. It helps make your planning that much more realistic.  How does this work?

You set up two columns for yourself and Column #1 is where you plan out your schedule. In Column #2, you document how your day actually went. You can read more about this tool in my article “Time Management Tips – How to Use the 2 Column Method to Restore Focus to Your Day” Using this method, you can see very clearly where your planning was on-target and where your estimates missed the mark … and then you can tweak your planning as needed.

Combining this with the Times Two Rule should stand you in good stead as your plan your time.

And time for you?

Don’t forget to plan in time for self care and reflection! Remember – the way you use your time is the way you live your life. I’d love to hear how you  use these tools in your life – please feel invited to drop me a line!
