twitter9gif1Finding time to make the most out of Twitter takes time. This is because Twitter tools are constantly changing and evolving, as are the creative ways that people use Twitter. How can you keep up?

Mashable to the rescue! When it comes to social media, this blog is one of the best resources that you will find anywhere on the Internet.

Who/what is Mashable and what do they do?  Here’s how they describe themselves:

Founded in July 2005, Mashable is the world’s largest blog focused exclusively on Web 2.0 and Social Media news. With more than 6 million monthly pageviews, Mashable is the most prolific blog reviewing new Web sites and services, publishing breaking news on what’s new on the web and offering social media resources and guides.

The Mashable site is easy to navigate, and offers a wealth of information which can help you find time and keep up with the latest trends in the social media.

Focusing on Twitter, try clicking the Twitter link at the top of the page next to “Lists.” This takes you to a broad, and deep collection of Twitter topics to explore.

You’ll find suggestions about people to follow, and excellent technical and “how to” information. As an example, here is a “how to” about retweeting. Mashable offers the basics, along with links offering more depth information.  You can explore as much, or as little, as you like.  I found a tool called TweetMeme as I explored retweeting.  It looks like a great way to track trending topics on Twitter.

Finding time to use Twitter wisely and well, without letting it eat up more time than you want it to, is a challenge. Mashable, with its vast stores of user-friendly, well organized information, is a resource that can help!

Is Mashable a part of your social networking practice? Are there other resources that you can recommend? Let me know… I’d love to hear!
