Find Time for Those Back-to-School Tasks!

897197Finding time for back-to-school tasks was on my mind last night as I thought about today’s post.  As I set about writing I discovered that, lo and behold, it was  on this day a year ago that we last focused on that seasonal chore.

Here we are again!  It’s nearly September, and if school hasn’t started yet, it soon will.  For kids and families, this is an exciting and sometimes anxiety-provoking time.  What can you do to make it go as smoothly as possible?

Well, for starters, it’s a good idea to start planning long before back-to-school day rolls around.  There are lots of on-line resources available, like this Back-to-School Checklist from schoolfamily.com.  Their article Ready, Set, Back to School is also a very helpful resource.

As you plan, it will be very helpful if you create your own template on your computer.  This is something you can save and modify, based on your experience.  Then you can pull it out each mid-summer as you work on back-to-school preparation, and keep tweaking and fine-tuning it as the years come and go.

Circumstances inevitably evolve and change as your children grow, and/or different schools come into play.  Your template will provide you with an important base, however – and will help you save lots of time (and not miss crucial steps) as you move through this seasonal transition.

I encourage you to think about using templates for lots of tasks – and especially the seasonal ones.  As tools for finding time, they are hard to beat!

How are you and your family doing on the back-to-school transition this year?  What has been challenging?  What have you learned? I’d love to hear!
