Stress Stressing You Out? Try These 5 Timely Tips!

Stress and Your Time Choices

Stress doesn’t HAVE to stress you out!

Stress is a part of being alive – and managing stress is part of staying well and finding satisfaction in your life!

Maybe your stress comes from taking on too much. Maybe it comes from worrying, or from perfectionism. Or maybe you’re so stressed that you’re spinning your tires and feel like you don’t  even know where to start!

The good news is that small changes can make a big difference.

No matter where your stress comes from, you can develop skills and stress-busting habits that help you reduce anxiety and worry. When you do that, you find more time and more peace.

5 Time Choices to Reduce Your Stress

So here are 5 time choices you can make to reduce your everyday stress:

  1. Get enough rest. Your body needs rest to recharge and maintain peak condition. When you lose sleep, you’re more likely to become irritated and to let things get to you.
  • A “power nap” is perfect for getting your rest quickly, especially if you have a busy schedule. Try closing your eyes in a quiet room for 15 to 20 minutes. This is an effective way to give yourself a boost of energy.
  1. Eat well. If you regularly make wise choices about food, your body will have the fuel it needs to respond to the everyday challenges of living.  Having stores of energy available to you often makes it possible to address triggers of stress and anxiety before they even take hold.
  1. Play your troubles away. Exercise is a great way to unwind and let go of worries in your life. And this doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym. Anything fun that gets your body moving will do the trick.
  1. Stretch and flex. Relaxing your muscles has a parallel effect on your mind! With practice, this exercise can help you calm down quickly and feel more in control amidst the storms of your life.
  1. Count to ten. When you’re frustrated or upset, take a timeout. Slowly count to 10 and focus on your breathing. Taking deep, long, deliberate breaths from your belly is often enough to help you regain focus and claim a powerful sense of peace.

These simple steps will work if you use them!

No matter where your stress comes from,
you can develop skills and stress-busting habits
that help you reduce anxiety and worry.
