The way you use your time is the way you live your life.

Finding time requires working in collaboration sometimes. And working closely with others can be complicated; there are lots of variables to consider.
So, to combine forces as effectively as possible, try thinking in terms of dependencies. When you do, your Priority Power™ will rise appreciably.
Is “dependency” in project management a term that you’re familiar with?
Basically, when an enterprise you’re engaged in calls for collaboration, the “dependency” is someone outside of your immediate work group who plays an essential role in your achieving your goals. When you prioritize tasks, dependencies must be factored in and accounted for.
Let’s say, for example, that you work closely with a number of different departments at your job. You establish a working budget for each quarter, and the finance department supplies you with the figures. Since they usually take four weeks to gather and compile the necessary data, you prioritize your request and make it well in advance of your due date. This way, you get the data you need with time to spare.
And of course, others depend on YOU, too.
Maybe it’s your daughter, who counts on you to create her costume for the school play. To be ready to play her part, she depends on you to do yours. And, without a second thought, you give this task top priority. Your openhearted commitment to support your child, and her reliance upon you, establish this project’s high priority as you plan your week.
So try consciously welcoming dependencies as you frame your collaborative work. See how your productivity increases with every incremental step forward.
Notice, too, how your greater sensitivity to others’ schedules and needs creates more flow and good will. That is a time-enhancer that not only makes you more efficient and effective, but also adds quality and inner quietude to your busy day.
So, want to learn more about how you can expand and deepen your time and efforts … in whatever areas you choose? Finding time to celebrate – even a mini-mini-celebration, is a delightful way to add “juice” to your day. That’s why I recommend not only creating a pleasurable morning ritual, but also keeping it fresh, so it’s a genuine treat!
Ritual doesn’t mean rote, after all. My morning ritual provides consistent support, yet it’s fine-tuned to meet me wherever I am. That means it’s flexible and changes from one morning to the next.
You might find it helpful to brainstorm a list of activities that provide a boost, and then select the one that speaks to your heart for the upcoming day. Here are a few questions you might ask yourself when compiling your list:
Does the last question surprise you? Well, your day may challenge you to focus where you’d hoped to relax, and to flex where you wanted to stay focused. Wouldn’t it be nice to feel more prepared?
When your morning ritual includes pastimes like memorizing favorite quotations, you plant in your imagination “seed phrases” that serve as mantras throughout your day, whatever it brings.
And when you move your energy with pleasurable activity during your morning ceremony, you will feel more sure-footed when new challenges come knocking.
See how far-sighted you can be when you look within! Envision what challenges stretch you and which ones generate strain. Try playing with choices that provide a comfortable stretch.
At bedtime, you might reflect back. Ask yourself a few questions to open things up:
Don’t include any activities wearing a “you should” hat! Reshape your ritual until it sparks your enthusiasm and invites your commitment.
So are you ready to create a morning ritual for yourself and keep it fresh? There’s so much to explore … so stay tuned!
And in the meantime, if you’d like to explore ways to increase your power and effectiveness – whether it’s in your business, or your personal life … I am so pleased to be able to offer my expertise and support as The Official SelfGrowth.com Guide to “Time Management”.

Finding time to listen to the messages that you give yourself about your time is the first step in beginning to make changes in your time choices. It’s like looking at a map of the terrain, before setting out on a journey.
In order to begin to see the important landmarks and signposts on your map, you need to hear what you are telling yourself about your time. These are the messages that provide the backdrop to your daily living. They can, quite literally, shape what you do, what you see, and what you feel about your day … and often they are entirely hidden.
Powerful and hidden … that can be a dangerous combination!
So that is why it is so important to cultivate habits of attentiveness. The language that we use offers us sure clues to the feelings, values, and old scripts that we may be working off of. Do you hear yourself using words like never and always when thinking about time patterns or recurring tasks? How do you feel when you give yourself this frame to work from?
Are there particular phrases that you hear yourself using when you feel stressed? When you have a block of unstructured time, how do you describe it to yourself? Your language offers some very good hints about how you are likely to spend that time!
What inner voice is most often active when you are thinking about your time? The Critic? The Victim? What kinds of words might your Inner Adult or Inner Nurturer use?
Once you begin to hear what you are saying to yourself, you will see places where you can make changes that will shift your perspective and boost your energy and effectiveness. The power truly is in your hands … and the first step, as always, is to see how you are wielding it now … so that you can change it for the better!
Give it a try … and I’d love to hear how it goes for you.

Finding time to stay on top of all of the information that you access … and may want to refer back to some time … is a gargantuan task that is often complicated by the fact that many of us now work from more than one computer or mobile device.
Have you ever experienced the frustration of being on your home computer, remembering something that you had bookmarked on your laptop … you know, the one that your son borrowed to take to school? You search your memory but just can’t come up with ANY information to help you search for that website that you were going to take a closer look at.
Well, that’s a frustration that con be easily solved with some free software that my VA just mentioned to me. It’s called Xmarks Bookmark Sync and it can be a big help. ”Install Xmarks on each browser you use, and it will seamlessly keep your bookmarks, (and optionally) passwords and open tabs in sync.”
In addition, you can create different profiles in Xmarks if you wish. This allows you quite a bit of flexibility. As they note on their website:
Xmarks gives you full control over which bookmarks are synced to which computers. This allows you to:
- Keep your private bookmarks at home, but sync everything else with your work computer.
- Set up a different bookmark toolbar at home and at work, but sync everything else as you normally would.
- Create a shortlist of bookmarks for when you access My Xmarks from your mobile phone.
Here at Finding Time, we have found it helpful to create one profile specifically for the blog and another for our products. Another nice feature of Xmarks that we have found very helpful is the ability to import your Delicious Bookmarks (whether you have the old or the new version currently active).
They offer a comprehensive menu of Help items, and have a Premium option
And are you inspired to find time and increase your effectiveness, efficiency and enjoyment?

Finding time to get moving when a deadline looms, the clock is ticking, and you are stuck in a rut can be a nightmarish feeling, can’t it?
It seems like the more you try, the more blank your mind becomes, as panic grows and ideas and inspiration dry up. Maybe you try brainstorming or mindmapping. Maybe you stop and go outside for a walk to clear your head. But back at your desk, nothing comes.
Well, I have just one tip for you when you find yourself in a situation like this. It has worked wonderfully for me … often yielding creative ideas that help with other projects, in addition to the one that had me stymied.
It’s an entirely counter-intuitive tip – and that’s its beauty.
What I want you to try, the next time you are stuck, is to generate the absolute worst version of whatever you are working on that you can. If it’s a sales page, or a blog post, or copy for a press release, have at it with the mindset that you are going to make this your worst ever!
What this does, as you may have guessed, is remove your critical inner voice from the stage. Or, more precisely, it enlists this voice to become a contributor to your project … rather than a nay-sayer from the sidelines. What does your inner critic think is a really terrible headline for your next e-zine article? Go ahead, write it down, and go from there.
Before you know it, the ideas will be pouring out … and, as I said, you may be surprised at the new inspirations that come about as a result of this counter-intuitive time management tip!
Give it a try … and I’d love to hear how it goes for you.
