Top 10:  Looking Back and Looking Ahead

As 2012 draws to a close, we look ahead, anticipating a brand new year.  What will be the Top 10 big new things in 2013?  It’s hard to know; but here’s what they are predicting on Mashable … in a post by Lance Ulanoff titled “11 Big Tech Trends You’ll See in 2013“.   For what they are worth, you’ll see more and more of these Top 10 predictions as we move toward January 1 and the turning of the year.

But what we can absolutely know now (and what’s helpful to take a look at) is what we found useful in 2012.  Knowing what you explored, what you tried, what worked and what didn’t in the past year helps you plan how to move ahead.  Not only that, but taking a look at top ideas and innovations can help spark your own creativity.

Top 10 Lists for 2012

So, there’s a lot out there to be learned, and looking back at some Top 10 lists gives you a starting point.  That’s why I was so pleased to come upon the lifehacker compilation titled “Most Popular Top 10’s of 2012.”  This is a wide-ranging collection of Top 10 lists taken from postings on lifehacker throughout the year.  As they note:

Sometimes, there are just so many tips regarding a specific topic that they just beg to be compiled into a definitive list. Here’s a look back at our favorite top 10 lists of 2012.

Just to give a few examples, you can peruse “Top 10 Highly-Desired Skills You Can Teach Yourself” or “Top 10 Pervasive Tech Myths That Are Only Wasting Your Time” or “Top 10 Clever Tricks Built Right Into Gmail“.  And, as I said, that’s just a few!

Maybe we need a Top 10 List of the lifehacker collection!
