Finding a new beginning offers a refreshing and energizing perspective on the moments of your life.
So often we think of our time as a linear flow that moves from a long-ago beginning to a future ending.
But it really isn’t. Right down to the cellular level, we are in a constant rhythm of endings and new beginnings. And then, from each new beginning comes a new ending.
Breathing is an excellent and foundational example of the taking in and letting go that forms the weave of our lives.
A new beginning around every corner:
So, when you are attuned to them, you start noticing each new beginning as it offers itself. There’s the turning of the year that much of the world celebrates as a new start.
But what about this morning? Isn’t that a new beginning, too?
Or how about the moment after a snowstorm, when the air has cleared and the sun breaks through, revealing a world transformed?
Each such event presents opportunities to pause, stretch and welcome something new.
Transitions offer opportunities.
And transition points offer opportunities to pause and reflect before stepping toward the new. How deeply and how long you want to explore is entirely up to you. The empowering gift of this process is that the more you invest, the more you receive.
When you choose to reflect on your values, goals, priorities and time choices, you give yourself the most solid base possible for your new beginning.
So why wait for particular dates to do that kind of personal reflecting?
When you accept that change really is a constant in your life and that transitions are happening all the time, you start to see all sorts of opportunities to take a breath and begin.
Help for making a new beginning:
Try giving yourself the gift of small rituals throughout your day. These offer markers that help you transition into new beginnings.
How about this morning? How will you make time in there to reflect and welcome your brand new day?
Or what about the time right before bed? Could you pause and do an internal inventory then?
Stop, then start fresh.
It’s your choice to pause, in the flow of time, that creates something new.
Making a new beginning is always a refreshing and proactive choice you can make for yourself. The more you notice and honor the changes taking place in your life, the more often you are able to pause, reflect, and begin again.
So, how will you make a new beginning for yourself today? It’s wonderful to do it at the turning of the year, but how can you find more time for new beginnings in your everyday life?
