Being Busy Doesn’t Have to Mean Being Exhausted

boundaries help
Busy? Set a boundary…

When you’re busy it’s hard to juggle everything and find time for what matters most.

And, indeed, in today’s world of 24/7 information overload and exhaustion, addressing (or even just maintaining) your priorities can be a world-class challenge.

So, do you find yourself overwhelmed by the demands of your life?

Are you often exhausted and depleted at night when you look back at your day?

Would you like to be able to change all that?

Stop Letting “Busy” Spell “Exhausted”

Time boundaries are your key.

I’ve written a lot about time boundaries here on The Time Finder.  They help you make time choices and stick to your time priorities.  Using time boundaries, you learn to say “No” to spending time in certain ways, so that you can say “Yes” to the things that are most important and meaningful to you — the things you have prioritized.

Today I’d like to extend the notion of boundaries, because time is so much at the foundation of our lives. Time isn’t really something that can be isolated from everything else.

Indeed, when you set a time boundary, for example, it affects everything in your life that it touches. It affects your time, to be sure. And it also affects your relationships with those closest to you – your family and friends, your co-workers.

Communication Counts

The way you communicate your boundary, along with the quality of your follow-through, will not only define your success in the moment.  It will also affect the response you receive when you set your next boundary.

It’s a building process.

The quality of each step ripples out and impacts the next steps you take. It also affects how your efforts are viewed by the people in your life. And each step builds on the previous one.

For example, assertiveness in setting a boundary is more likely to bring you success than an aggressive, critical or “victimy” tone.  These, in contrast, are likely to elicit a rebellious response.

When you are busy and on overload, it may be especially challenging to take the time to pay attention to your tone.  However, this is also when it is especially important.

Remember the ripple effect.  Something like your tone might seem like a small thing, but its impact on you and on others is powerful.

And there’s so much more…
