Being Still — Your Path to Focus and Deep Change

Decide
Being still helps you decide…

What does being still have to do with finding focus and with change?

Well, let’s start with the fact that we are each unique. And that means that each of our paths in life is also going to be unique.

So, finding your own, authentic path forward in life often requires finding time to be still.

This paradoxical fact has always fascinated me.

Our minds and our bodies are deeply connected. But those connections aren’t always clear to us. And, further, we don’t always realize how much power we hold in our hands.

Being still and your power…

As we make choices about what we focus on and how we live each moment, we have the option to tap into that power. That requires getting to know ourselves, past and present. It means tuning into what is shaping our choices, at any given moment.

The following quotation says it well:

Whatever we do lays a seed in our deepest consciousness, and one day that seed will grow.

Our early experiences, our choices, all contribute to the content and quality of our relationships, our aspirations, and each of our moments.  One thing builds on another.

Yet this process doesn’t need to have the flavor of inevitability.  The more we make choices to be slow down, be still, and work to be mindful about the seeds that we plant, the more we can shape what grows.

It’s physical and spiritual.

Your brain continues to develop new connections throughout your life.

Concretely, the connections between neurons determine how mental processes are created and function. Your experiences shape these neural connections, reshaping your mind. So do your relationships and your reflections.

All of this combines to foster this ongoing growth of the mind.

Being still and being mindful…

In our stillness and our choices to be mindful, we are forging new pathways in our brains.

Being still, we are creating change at its most fundamental and authentic level.

So, how will you make more time for yourself to do this?

Remember, the way you use your time is the way you live your life. It is also the way you shape your life.
