Breathe In Your Gratitude and Breathe Out Your Stress

Breathe in gratitude…

When you breathe in and breathe out, you are fulfilling one of the necessary requirements of sustaining life.

And when you breathe in and breathe out mindfully, you give yourself an additional gift that is most profound.

Finding time to breathe deeply and savor your moments is a huge challenge and can be especially so during busy or stressful times.

I know the feeling and I imagine you do, too.  When your To-Do List is overflowing, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that your cup is, too. And what your cup is overflowing with is things to feel grateful for.

Pausing to breathe in and call this to mind in the midst of your busy day is a gift you can give yourself anytime. And it’s especially meaningful and rejuvenating when stress is high.

Breathe in and out mindfully.

But rather than thinking of it as a gift, I’d advise you to think of this as a responsibility.  You’re more likely to do it when you really take in the fact that giving this to yourself doesn’t just enhance your experience. It also actually enables you to:

  • Be more present to your life and the people who share it;
  • Have more energy and a more positive attitude; and
  • Get more done.

And you’ll notice that the title of this post refers to both breathing in and breathing out your gratitude.  That’s a reminder that it’s important to experience our own feelings of gratitude AND that this truly relieves your stress.

And expressing your gratitude adds even more to the experience. Indeed, gratitude is best when shared. This is something that thinkers and writers have expressed beautifully over time.
