Caught Up in Cloying Clutter? Name It and Tame It Today!

Clutter and You

You CAN let go of clutter.

Clutter is something that too often clogs our time, energy, and space.

Clutter adds to your stress and subtracts from your productivity. It takes lots of different forms, and they’re all important to address.

And when it comes right down to it, dealing with your clutter is, more often than not, a matter of learning to let go. Yes, it’s a challenge. And at the same time, it’s very doable.

Here’s your first step…

The key to successful decluttering is to figure out what works for YOU.

That’s because we’re all unique. That means that your relationship to whatever clutters up your life is as unique as you are.  Not only that, but the specific nature of your clutter may also change over time, as you evolve and grow.

Maybe your main clutter issue is paper or clothes or knick-knacks. Or maybe it’s the accumulation of unread emails or nagging worries. Needless to say, a solution that helped you

As you can see, the decluttering solution that helps you cull your sweater drawer might not help you when it comes to cutting down on your overflowing To Do List!

But whatever your clutter issue may be, once you name it and decide to do something about it, you are halfway home.

Breaking it down…

The next step is to give yourself a small, concrete goal that involves letting go of some aspect of the clutter you’ve identified.

The key words here are small and concrete.  Is there ONE thing you can let go of right now?

Give yourself an achievable goal, follow through on it, and then validate your success.  Once you get moving, watch the changes and celebrate as your momentum builds.

Don’t give up…

And if you get stuck somewhere along the way, pause and reflect.  What has you snagged?  If you’re not ready to let it go, that’s okay … but work to make it a conscious choice, rather than something that just “happens.”  If your task feels overwhelming, focus on each small step, not on the whole.

As you start exploring your clutter and letting it go, I’d love to hear how it goes for you.
