You can enhance your own energy whenever you choose. You can do it at any time and in any moment.
This is true no matter what is going on in your life and no matter what your age or developmental stage is.
It’s a fact that revolutionizes your potential because it enables you to re-envision what makes you powerful.
Knowing that the ability to enhance your own energy is something you hold in your hands simply changes everything.
What is power to you?
Is it when are you happiest and most effective? Is it an inner abundance that enriches your life — even as you age and even as you experience age-related losses?
Indeed, aging gracefully and living powerfully are closely aligned, because you don’t exhaust yourself by swimming against the river of time. You don’t waste energy wishing you were younger, and you don’t injure yourself by trying to push beyond your natural limits. Instead, you flow in harmony with what is. And life’s ever-changing current is the most powerful force of all.
When you respect that the kind of power you possess will evolve and change as life changes, you are in your best position to age with grace and power.
Each of us encounters developmental changes that we respond to in highly individual ways.
Aging is universal, and it helps to keep that in mind! Yet, aging is highly individual, too. Although how far you have traveled along your lifeline is one factor, so are deeply personal issues such as your associations, expectations and experiences of aging, and watching the generation that went before you.
Enhance your own energy.
You make the best time choices possible by using your insights to reshape your life. To obtain a fresh perspective, ask yourself the following 7 questions, and listen closely to your answers:
1. What did power mean to you when you were young?
2. How has your understanding of power matured over time?
3. How can you further redefine power to change your life for the better? To do this, consider how you have developed wisdom and flexibility throughout your life.
4. What surprises you about what makes you happy? How does this differ from what you thought would be most rewarding?
5. What are 3 ways you use these insights to make wise time choices in place of physical stamina to live more richly?
6. How do you experience time’s flow now, compared with when you were younger? What lessons do you take from this?
7. Have you created a bucket list? If so, which three activities top the list?
In your younger years, these intangibles might not have been your yardsticks of personal power. So after answering the 7 questions about power, you might also ask yourself, where do intimacy, vulnerability, and experiencing deep emotions fit in?
If you create a list of what gains and losses your time choices have generated, you provide yourself with a powerful incentive to stretch in new directions. Each step to change your life is a time choice. List a few choices you can get started on today, and enjoy how your experience changes your feeling of personal power over time.
