Find Time to De-Stress in the Midst of a Stressful Day!

country-laneFinding time to let go of stress when tasks are pressing and time feels like it is rushing by is a big challenge! And yet, choosing to take a moment to de-stress in the midst of all that can enhance your efficiency and effectiveness greatly, while also vastly improving your experience of each moment.

Here, the issue really is quite simply, choice.

Choose to de-stress…

When your to-do list is filled, there is never going to be a clear, or easy time to pause. Indeed, to slow down or stop when you are busy seems counterintuitive. Every fiber of your being wants to move on to the next task as quickly as possible.

But choosing to pause, even for just one minute, is very helpful. Such a pause can bring you, your focus, and your energy right back to the present moment.

It’s a little like putting your feet back on the ground and getting your bearings again. It may be that this pause will lead you to shift your priorities somehow. Or it may be that it simply allows you to come back to yourself.

Either way, it’s important to give yourself these moments of brief refreshment and refocusing — most especially when you are very busy!

Do you choose to do this for yourself? How many times a day do you pause, and how does it work for you? Drop me a line — I’d love to hear!

How about this?

  1. I really like your point that there is no “clear or easy time” to pause on a busy day. But I can MAKE time to breathe and relax the shoulders (aka “should-ers”). And by doing so, I claim my power over my self and my time choices. What a great way to reduce stress! Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Thanks for your comment, Alison. Making time to breathe and relax, just as you describe, does wonders for your energy, effectiveness, AND enjoyment. To your time success!
