Finding time to get the word out – whether it’s a great idea that you’ve written a how-to guide about or that novel that you’ve been working on in your spare time – is a challenge that is a bit easier with the boom in digital content. E-readers like the Kindle make digital material more accessible and affordable than ever before, and if you are a solopreneur who develops and markets info-products, this is a platform you should consider exploring.
Amazon offers two ways to publish and distribute your content, should you be so inclined. You can do so in print, using CreateSpace to publish a print version of your book on demand.
Your other option is to create a digital version of your material and make it available at the Kindle Store via their Digital Text Platform. Once you have your content, the publishing part is quite easy … really!
To get started, sign in with your own Amazon account. Next, you need to format your book. You’ll find tips for formatting on the site. Using Microsoft Word as your base and then saving it in HTML format is a good way to go. You can use the “Save As” feature to do this in Word.
Make all of your edits, add graphics if you like (a good idea, to make your book more appealing) and then upload it to Amazon’s website.
