Updates coming to Google Voice!

Google Voice is a time-saving tech tool that is one of my VA’s favorites.

That’s because it gives her easy access to her voicemail whether she’s using her phone, her laptop, her tablet, or her PC. And since I tend to use my phone a lot in my work with her, Google Voice is definitely a go-to app for us.

So, I was pleased to read recently that updates are coming, as Google rolls out some new features for its Android, iOS, and web clients. It sounds like there will be new capabilities, as well as a new look. And the updates started rolling out last week – so keep an eye out for them.

Google Voice Updates

Here’s how Google describes the changes:

The first thing you’ll notice about the updated Google Voice apps is a cleaner, more intuitive design that keeps everything organized. Your inbox now has separate tabs for text messages, calls and voicemails. Conversations stay in one continuous thread, so you can easily see all your messages from each of your contacts in one place. We’ve upgraded the messaging experience with support for group and photo MMS as well as in-notification replies. And we’re starting to introduce voicemail transcription for Spanish and will improve accuracy over time.

The Google Voice Help Center offers more information about these updates, as well as help with setting up your account and trouble-shooting problems.

Aside from its usefulness as a communication tool, Google Voice is also very useful if you don’t want to use your home or office phone in your on-line work. A Google Voice number adds an important and powerful layer of security for you.

Google Voice and Boundaries

If you think about it, when you use Google Voice in this way you are creating a strong boundary. That’s really important, because setting and maintaining boundaries is a skill that makes everything else in your life possible.
