Inbox by Gmail – New Integrations to Increase Efficiency

Inbox by Gmail has some new capabilities!

Inbox by Gmail recently added some new features. These include a new section for Google Alerts, as well as integration with Trello and GitHub.

If you use Inbox now, you know that it’s all about showing you what you need when you need it.  This means you’re less likely to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of alerts, notifications, and e-mails.

Here’s what you’ll find as you explore these new features.

Inbox – What’s New?

Inbox by Gmail’s getting a few new features today. These include integration with Trello, GitHub, and a new Google Alerts section. Trello, if you’re unfamiliar with it, is a very robust project management application. GitHub is a software collaboration platform.

The new interfaces for Trello and GitHub show you summaries of updates sent from both apps. With this feature, you can easily keep on top of the latest updates. And you don’t need to leave your e-mail app to do it.

Google Alerts are also summarized for you. The nice thing about this enhancement is that you can tap on anything you see that’s of particular interest and then read more about it.

Inbox – More New Features

Here are some of the new features that have been added, in addition to the above:

  • The ability to insert Google Drive links into e-mails, edit permissions for those links, and save e-mail attachments to Drive. If you’re a Google Drive user, you’ll recognize this as a significant time-saving enhancement.
  • The capacity to drag-and-drop contacts in your address fields. When you’re working in “compose” on the web, you can now move contacts between the to, cc, and bcc fields.
  • And you can now delete items from your inbox as quickly and easily as you can mark them “done.” We love this, for culling items you don’t need!

As with any app or app update, it can take some time to get used to working in a new environment. So depending on your preferences and work-style, these changes may or may not suit you. But if you’re intrigued, I’d say give it a try, give it some time, and see what you think.

Oh, and I’d love to hear!
