Exercise always helps!

Exercise is a self-care skill that is vital to your well-being. But often it’s something we all postpone or ‘forget’ when we get busy.

And there’s no denying that finding time for physical activity can be a challenge. That’s especially true when the weather isn’t conducive to getting outside.  It’s also true at busy times, like the holidays.

Are you tempted, right now, to procrastinate or let exercise drop out of your routine?

The thing is, when you drop the ball on this vital activity, you are short-changing yourself. Ultimately, you feel drained of energy and less connected to the flow of your day.  This is because the benefits of even a small amount of exercise are so far-reaching. They impact every area of your life, mind, body, and spirit.

Try These 3 Tips

Here are 3 ideas to help you make sure that this important self-care activity doesn’t fall off your radar. These are especially important when the weather is bad or when busy times (like the holidays) affect your routine:

  • Expand your view of what ‘counts’ when it comes to exercise. Don’t limit yourself> If you consider a 2-mile run exercise but not a 15-minute walk, you’re missing the point.  ALL exercise is important and helpful.  Let yourself see and celebrate that.
  • Make exercise a priority. When you plan your time for the coming day, if exercise is going to be on your agenda, be sure to write that on your list and be specific about when you’ll follow-through.
  • Don’t over-extend. Make sure that your daily to-do list includes what you really can do. Don’t include what you think you should do, just what you actually can do.

Including some form of physical activity in your day is a powerful way of connecting with yourself, your time, and your energy.
