Looking for Tranquility? How to Use Some Springtime Clues

Tranquility is a quality of energy that comes from inside of you. But the outside world offers lots of clues about its essence.

We’re in the midst of springtime here in New Hampshire. It’s a time of growth and renewal.

And there’s an energy of tranquility, too, as nature uncurls from a long winter slumber. It’s as if she yawns and stretches, moving into the changing of the seasons.

Our energy is cyclical, too, and spring often brings peaceful feelings. It offers soothing images. And that springtime feeling can be a part of your experience in any season of life.

Tranquility — A State of Mind

Peace comes from what’s around you, but it also comes from inside you. Inner stillness is something that you choose to keep. And no one can take it from you — only you can choose to give it away.

In order to practice peace and let go of stress, try these suggestions:

  • Breathe deeply from your abdomen to relax your mind and body.
  • Listen to soft, calming music that you enjoy.
  • Play a game that alleviates stress.
  • Watch a funny movie and laugh out loud.
  • Set aside time to meditate.
  • Cuddle with a soft blanket, stuffed animal, or pet.
  • Go for a walk in nature.
  • Drink a cup of mint tea or another calming drink.
  • Read a book or some poetry.

Taking It With You

Remember that tranquility is a choice. Stressful situations occur from time to time. How you respond determines the level of serenity you feel inside.

The quiet relaxation of spring can be yours in any season. Take a few deep breaths and stop for a moment to notice the beauty around you. If things around you are chaotic, it’s okay. They’re outside of you. They aren’t you.

With practice, you can maintain inner tranquility in any situation. Soon, you’ll find that the peace of spring is with you all year long.
