Make Your Day Your Own — Start the Night Before

Great things

Make your day…

What does it mean to make your day? Well, quite literally, your day is something that you, in large part, have the power to create for yourself.

Of course, there are things that happen that aren’t in your control. But making your day is something that you have more say in than you might think.

But right now, is it a challenge to get yourself going in the morning? If so, you’re not alone. Lots of folks feel that way when the alarm clock first goes off.

But you know what? There’s something you can do about that.

Make your day…

You can jump-start your day and set the tone for the hours ahead by investing some thought and planning the night before.

This is a powerful choice you can make for yourself, because the energy you bring to the beginning of your day sets its tone. Indeed, in a profound-yet-subtle way, your start affects everything that follows. So whatever you can do to begin in a positive and energized place is all to the good.

How your start helps you…

Imagine how your morning goes when your sleep has been disturbed by restlessness, worries, or upsetting dreams. You get out of bed, feeling out of sorts, dreading the coming hours. Maybe you don’t even know where to start. Meanwhile, stress increases as the clock ticks.

Now, picture how this scenario might feel if you’ve done some preparation work the night before. You might still be tired, but knowing that you’ve taken care of yourself with some prep work is a real gift.

“What kind of prep work?” you ask.

Things You Can Do:

Well, it really can be quite simple. I’m talking about things like:

  • Having your coffee preset and ready for you when you wake up.
  • Setting the table for breakfast, so you feel welcomed and nurtured first thing.
  • Creating quiet rituals that help you greet your day peacefully and with an open heart.
  • Using an exercise routine as a path to awakening your energy and stepping, with powerful confidence, toward the hours ahead.

I encourage you to think creatively and find the unique ways that you can make your day your own. This will look different for each of us, but in all cases, it gives you a powerful and positive way to enter your day as your own steady supporter and best friend.
