Our Bodies Have So Much to Tell Us — Here’s How to Listen Better

biorhythms and our bodies
Our bodies have much to tell us.

Paying attention to the messages that our bodies send us can be one of the most helpful time choices we ever make. Yet it’s information we often ignore.

But think about it: Who knows more about how you are feeling than YOU?

More often than not, though, we aren’t aware of what our bodies are saying to us.  Or, if we are, we very often choose to not heed the messages and push ahead.

The result of that can be debilitating – everything from illness to injury to chronic lack of energy.

Listening to our bodies…

Would you ignore a friend who needed to talk to you?  And what if, at first, you didn’t understand what he or she was saying?

Do you think you might slow down and focus more closely?  Listen harder and with more attention?

Ask some questions, perhaps?

There’s a very powerful and productive dialogue that you can be having with your body and your own unique energy flows and patterns.

How it helps:

Learning to pay attention to the language of your body, and choosing to make time for this in your life will help you tap into wellsprings of energy that you didn’t know that you had.  As well, it will help you avoid getting tangled up in stress and overwhelm.

Life is stressful enough.

You need to be your own best ally in your everyday life, and listening to what your body is trying to tell you is a vital piece of that alliance.

So, pause and listen right now. What do you hear your body saying to you?

Want to learn how to be a better listener? What will be your first step today?

Here’s some help with that:

Do you ever feel like you’re running on empty and there are no gas stations anywhere to be found? That’s what it’s like when you aren’t taking care of yourself.

It’s an awful feeling and one that’s all too familiar for many of us. In fact, if I had to guess, I’d say that finding time for self-care is one of the biggest challenges going. And I’ve created an E-Guide that addresses this challenge and offers you a path to creating your own, rejuvenating self-care routines and rituals. It’s titled “Self-Criticism or Self-Care? How Your Choices Define You, Your Time, and Your Life.” This E-Guide gets right down to business as it offers questions, insights and exercises aimed at helping you come to a deeper understanding of:

  • What gets in your way when it comes to taking care of yourself.
  • How your capacity for compassion is connected to self-care.
  • The activities that are most nurturing for you, and how to include them in your schedule, EVERY day.

  1. Dear Paula, thank you for this gentle reminder. For me, a silver lining of this current situation is that I am more willing to listen to my body’s signals (generally tiredness on Saturdays) and to reserve Saturdays for self-care and rest. All the best to you and the Time Finder Community!

    • Thanks, David — I’m very glad that you’ve found this silver lining and are acting on it. I hope that it has improved your quality of life, and continues to do so in the weeks and months ahead.
      Take good care…
      Paula
