Pause to De-Stress and Step Into Your Moments Again

Choose to pause and de-stress.

When you pause in the midst of busy times you immediately reduce your stress.

But choosing to take a moment to pause and let go of stress is a challenge.

This is especially true when your tasks are pressing and time feels like it is rushing by.

The thought of pausing in the midst of that is absolutely counter-intuitive. And yet the choice to pause at precisely those times has a twofold benefit:

  • It greatly enhances your effectiveness and efficiency; and
  • Your pause has a profound and positive impact on your experience of each moment.

And what’s the issue here? Quite simply, it’s a matter of choice.

Choose to de-stress…

When your to-do list is filled, there is never going to be a clear, or easy time to slow down.

Indeed, in busy times every fiber of your being just wants to move on to the next task as quickly as possible.

But choosing to pause, even for just one deep breath, is very helpful. Longer is better, but even the briefest of pauses will help. This is, in large part, because you are making a conscious choice to slow down. The choice, coupled with the time you spend will bring you, your focus, and your energy right back to the present moment.

Be still and reorient yourself.

When you slow down like this, it’s akin to putting your feet back on the ground and getting your bearings again.

That may be all you do, as you return to your tasks refreshed and re-focused. Or, it may be that this pause will lead you to shift your priorities somehow.

Either way, your choice allows you to come back to yourself.

So, it’s vital that you give yourself these moments of brief refreshment and refocusing. And this is especially important when you are especially busy.

Is this part of your time repertoire?

How do you choose to give yourself de-stressing pauses?

How many times a day do you do it?

And how does it work for you?
