Your Personal Power Boost — Get One Step Beyond Stuck!

Personal power? It flows from your time choices.

Personal power is about the time choices you make in each and every moment. It’s isn’t a magical quality that you’re born with. No, not at all! Personal power is right within your hands, in each moment. It’s a direct result of your choice-making.

So today, let’s see how far you can venture, simply by making the choices that get you one step beyond stuck, over and over! Here’s to patience, and to progress.

Personal Power – How Big Are You?

So often with problem solving, success doesn’t mean that the obstacle becomes any smaller. Instead, it’s really that YOU become bigger, as you grow more resourceful and committed.

As a result, you easily step over a hindrance that loomed large just a short time before. You may even redefine important components of your work.

Here are 3 tips to help fuel your wise choice-making and keep you moving — especially when you feel stuck:

1. Keep Expectations Realistic.

Getting stuck may be a signal that you have burdened your project with unrealistic ambitions. Take a few minutes to jot down your objectives. And be frank with yourself.

  • Symbolic victories? Eliminate them.
  • Desires to make up for past missteps? Let them go.
  • Competing with anyone? Spare yourself this unnecessary stress.

Once your list is pared down to what’s reasonable, it’s far simpler to proceed.

2. Make Success Safe.

Sometimes staying stuck is a form of self-protection. Rather than try to force your way through resistance, ask yourself:

  • Can you keep success from pushing you too hard?

In other words, can you choose to work within your comfort zone when you succeed? Developing this assertive strength is of utmost importance.  So
provide yourself with this support at the outset. Once you know you can exercise positive control over your options, you can say yes to success wholeheartedly.

3. One Step Back Creates Two Steps Forward.

Sometimes, the quickest way to your destination is backwards, at least temporarily. Allow yourself to take one step back when you are seriously stuck. Reassess and, if necessary, correct your course.

For example, you may want to incorporate new information. Perhaps this is the time to request the opinion of a trusted friend or colleague with a fresh perspective.

Allowing this to be a time of learning enhances flexibility, humility self-esteem, AND personal power.
