Recalibrating Resolutions Renews Your Energy

Recalibrate to get unstuck…

Recalibrating resolutions keeps you energized and on-track when you feel yourself faltering.

Remember that goal that looked so doable back on January 1?

Well, don’t be discouraged. You can still get there, but you may need to step back and recalibrate.

What do I mean by that?

Taking stock…

Finding time to take stock when you’re working on personal goals can be a difficult challenge. So, a really good example, as we move toward the middle of February, is to take some time to look at how things have transpired on the New Year’s resolution front.

When you set goals, it’s important to be able to look honestly at how you’re progressing. Having steps along the way that are measurable is a very helpful way to do that. It gives you good, concrete information. And at the same time it helps you short-circuit any tendency to be self-critical.

Don’t give up.

This is often a point when people give up on their resolutions.

  • Maybe you thought that things would go more quickly or more easily.
  • Maybe unexpected obstacles arose.

Whatever the case, rather than giving up, this is a good time to take stock and either recommit or recalibrate.

Recommit?

One choice you might make is to re-energize yourself. Go back and revisit your original reason for making the resolution.

  • What excited you about it?
  • Is it still something that you want to do?
  • Is there a way that you can make it more achievable for yourself?

Recalibrate?

Making it more achievable for yourself is key, and this is where recalibration comes in. Maybe your expectations were out of sync with reality. Or maybe the steps were too big.

So ask yourself, how can you adjust your goals and/or your expectations to get moving again?

Once you’ve recalibrated, let me know how it goes…I’d love to hear.

And here’s more help for you…

What if you could find another hour every day?

You can.
