Self-Care Choices and the Holidays — It Just Takes 30 Seconds

Your self-care choices profoundly affect your life.

Your experience of each moment, and of your life, is determined by your time choices. And this may be most true in relation to your self-care choices.

And I don’t just mean the big choices. It’s right down to the smallest self-care choices you make.

So, that’s a very powerful fact to assimilate: The choices you make about your time and your self-care are foundational, and they are entirely in your hands.

So, as we move toward the winter holidays, here’s a quick survival tip that will help you take care of yourself and keep the season as warm and meaningful as you want it to be.

Time Choices and Self-Care Choices

The important thing to remember about self-care, whether it’s during the holidays or throughout the rest of the year, is this:

Self-care isn’t an indulgence; it’s a responsibility.

There is nothing frivolous about your self-care choices. They are the bedrock on which all of your life’s activities are built.

Think about it:  if you were setting out on a car trip, would you embark with a nearly empty gas tank or tires that are bald and deflated?

Absolutely not … and I think you can see what I am getting at.

Self-Care Choices: Try 30-Second Refreshers

While self-care is vital, the reality is that we are generally short on time; and that’s especially true during the holidays.  That’s why I love my 30-second refreshers!  They are simple and powerful.

All you need to do is pause.  Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, stop for 30-seconds, relax your body, clear your mind, and breathe deeply.

Try thinking of something you are grateful for.  (Do NOT think about your next task!)  The refreshing part of this is stepping away from the hustle and bustle, and re-connecting with yourself in the moment.

Although 30-seconds may not seem like a long time to you, it’s like taking a drink of water when you are thirsty.  And think about it:  If you have ever watched a young child try to sit still on Christmas morning, or on one of the nights of Hanukkah, you know that 30-seconds can feel endless.

The choice is yours, always.

As you explore using 30-second refreshers, would you like to learn more about how you can expand and deepen your time and your satisfaction in whatever areas you choose?

Well, time is pure potential. You decide how to use it; and once you do, it’s gone.  That’s why it’s so important to build on your best time choices.
