The Choices You Make About Your Time Create Your Path

The choices you make will make your day.

The choices you make, when it comes to time, determine your path through your day.

It’s as simple as that and as powerful.

So, how do you make sure that your time choices are actually working for you? Coming to recognize this is a foundational time management skill.

What it boils down to is assuring that whatever you choose is going to be productive and positive. But what do I mean by that? Well, let’s looks at each of those qualities more closely.

The choices you make define your success.

Productive time choices contribute to your success by moving you toward your goals.  That seems pretty self-evident.  However, what’s important here is that what you choose is based on solid self-knowledge. What is productive for YOU?

Consider a situation where you are pushing to complete a project. If you’re overtired or hungry, your most productive decision might be to take a break rather than keep working.  You’re the best judge here.

What’s key is to take responsibility to know yourself and what works best for you.  There’s no right or wrong; it’s what works that counts.

Another key:

Positive time choices are also key to your time success.  This skill has to do with the content of your decisions and your perspective on them. And most importantly, it has to do with what part of you is deciding.

If you hear a self-critical tone embedded in a choice, or perhaps a voice that sounds victimized and beleaguered, then you can be sure that choice isn’t positive and you aren’t fully behind it.

And what this means in practice is that you are out of alignment.  You’re not optimizing your energy and effort.  And you can pretty much guarantee that somewhere along the line, things will fall apart.

Time success is within your reach.

That’s what I hope you will take away from these posts.  When you truly assimilate the importance of your choices you’re in the best position to attain your goals. This is true whether they are big or small.

So, what will you do, today, to start recognizing the choices you make more clearly?

And what will you change?
