Everyone wants to work smarter and find more time! And today I am happy to share a chrome extension that helps you do just that, when you’re working with PDF documents.
It’s called Notable PDF, and if you’ve ever worked collaboratively on an e-book or a special report, you’ll easily see the usefulness of this extension.
We first came upon this tool when we checked Lifehacker’s weekly compilation of top downloads to help you work smarter and more efficiently. And since we work a lot with PDF’s here at The Time Finder, we were immediately intrigued!
A blog post on the Notable PDF website titled “3 Easy Steps to Get Started on Notable PDF” gives a very helpful overview of this Chrome extension, as does the following YouTube video:

Here are some of the features of the Formatting Toolbar in Notable PDF:
Underline – lets you select and underline text in your PDF document.
Comment – this is my favorite tool. It allows you add annotations to your PDF. These appear in the margin, and there aren’t limits, so far as we can tell, on the dialogue that can take place here. Comments can be made on comments, to address questions or add information.
Text – it’s also possible to add text right within the PDF file – making comments in the body of the document. You can easily change the color of the font in your text to highlight it, or perhaps to quickly categorize different types of comments.
Select Text – this gives you a quick and easy way to select and copy text from your PDF.
Highlighter – the highlighter tool works like other highlighters you are familiar with. Use it to highlight material in your PDF, drawing attention to the text that you’re going to comment on.
Strike-through – this lets you indicate text that you want to have removed from the document.
There’s a free version of Notable PDF, as well as a paid version, and this is a tool that works on-line or off. And we found another brief overview and guide to using this Chrome Extension on Addictive Tips.
If you’re interested in ways to work smarter and find time, then I recommend that you take a look at Notable PDF as a possible addition to your toolbox!
