Spam is one of the perennial annoyances of blogging. How much time do you spend weeding out the spam from your blog’s comments?
Wouldn’t you love to use those moments for something more productive? Well, read on, we’ve got an idea for you!
Last week we shared some Time-Saving, SEO-Boosting WordPress Plugins for 2013 here on The Time Finder. But I’ve discovered one more plugin, thanks to Sandra De Freitas, that I just had to share!
It’s called GASP (Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin) and what it does is add a (simple) checkbox to your comment form asking users to confirm that they are human (i.e. not a spammer). This is much less trouble for your readers than entering a code (as with captcha) AND, because of the way it is structured, it eliminates most automated spam postings.
The plugin also checks and reminds your reader about checking the box if it’s blank – so real comments don’t get lost via this process. Give it a look by leaving a comment on this post. I think you’ll find it a quick, easy, and elegant solution to the spam onslaught. I love that it not only saves you time but is also a time-saver for anyone posting a comment on your site.
Here’s a video that Sandra De Freitas created, giving an overview of GASP along with step-by-step directions for setting it up on your WordPress blog …
So, leave a comment and let me know what you think of GASP … and don’t forget to check that box! ;~)
And if you’re a blogger, small business owner, consultant, or entrepreneur who would like to learn more about creating and maintaining a successful business, then here’s another great resource for you!
The booklet “How to Create Credibility as a Freelancer“ puts 70 expert-proven tips into your hands. These tips will help you recharge your energy and motivation, increase your visibility, and sharpen those vital organizational and time management skills.

Hi Jordy –
Thanks for stopping by. I am so glad you like GASP. Do you use it on a blog yourself?
Paula
Hi Paula –
I don’t at the moment, but will be setting it up for myself today. (I loved that you shared Sandra De Freitas’ video, too – very helpful directions and overview!
Enjoy your day!
