I hope the start of this week finds you rested and looking ahead to a warm and happy Thanksgiving.
A quick survey of my Facebook and Twitter friends reflects a certain level of pre-Holiday excitement, anticipation, and stress.
Thanksgiving excitement and stress…
Are you wondering how you’ll find the time to do everything that needs to be done before the guests arrive?
Indeed, in households all around the USA, preparations are underway. We pull favorite family recipes out of files and dog-eared cookbooks and crowd grocery stores. And many of us are retrieving fancy linens from attic storage to grace holiday tables.
The downturn of the economy presents particular challenges this holiday time. And that makes us all much more concerned about the costs of things, of course.
Planning for the future becomes more difficult and fraught with worry. So, now we carefully consider the choices that we might have made lightly last year.
Gratitude abounds.
As well, though, I am noticing that the precariousness of the economy makes me more thankful for the many gifts in my life. And as I take in the fact that good fortune is not a “given” I fully experience the preciousness of these gifts.
So, I find myself approaching my life these days with much more of an attitude of gratitude – and that affects everything.
How are you doing?
As you prepare for your Thanksgiving holiday this week, do you find that the economy’s problems are affecting your choices? Is your Thanksgiving fare different? And have you or members of your family changed travel plans?
And aside from what you do, or what you purchase, does the shifting economic terrain affect how you view your time? Has it changed your time priorities?
I know it has for me. I enhance the preciousness of each moment with a heightened awareness of its uniqueness and fragility.
So here’s to your warm experience of this special time!
Let’s explore time together …
Actually, my economy is better than ever! Thanks to certain… challenges… opportunities have presented themselves which might never have otherwise. And for THAT I am extremely grateful! I am currently stretching and experiencing abilities that I had no idea I possessed, and meeting such fabulous people… yep, it’s wonderful!
I am so happy to hear about the way that you have turned challenges into opportunities for yourself. And I hope you’re giving yourself a big pat on the back for embracing and exploring the possibilities. Here’s to your continued success!
